Anderson and Ause Advance to the MGA Women's Senior Match Play Final

ST. MICHAEL, Minn. – The 2026 MGA Women's Senior Match Play Championship will come down to Lynn Anderson and Angela Ause, who each won their semifinals Thursday at Fox Hollow Golf Club to set up a championship-flight title match between two of the week's steadiest players.

Anderson, of Keller Golf Club, followed her 9-and-7 quarterfinal rout with a far sterner test in the semifinals, grinding out a 1-up win over Minnesota Golf Hall of Famer Leigh Klasse to reach the final. Ause, of Highland National, claimed the other spot with a 3-and-2 victory over Linda Goodno of Keller Golf Club.

The flight finals, meanwhile, began crowning champions. In the Second Flight, Tammy Smith-Foyt of Bunker Hills capped a dominant week — a 7-and-5 semifinal romp followed by a 2-and-1 win over Lola Heinrich of Spring Brook — to take the flight outright.

The Third Flight belonged to Mary Bodem of Anoka Golf Club, who backed up a 3-and-1 semifinal victory with a 2-and-1 win over Kathryn Sartain of Bunker Hills to claim the crown.

The First Flight final proved the toughest to settle. Sally Platt of Rush Creek, who had reached the title match when Wenmei Qi conceded their semifinal, went the distance with Krista Larsen — a Fox Hollow member playing on her home course — before closing out the match to claim the First Flight title.

With the three lower flights decided, the spotlight now belongs to the championship flight. Anderson, riding the kind of ball-striking that produced a 9-and-7 blowout earlier in the week, against Ause, who has answered every challenge put to her — a final that pits momentum against consistency for the 2026 MGA Women's Senior Match Play title.
