HASTINGS, Minn. - A late birdie during her round Monday at Hastings Golf Club helped University of St. Thomas golfer Nicole Reineke to medalist honors in qualifying for the 2024 Minnesota Golf Association Women's Amateur Match Play Championship.
Reineke earns the second overall seed with her round of even par 72 when the match play portion of the championship begins early Tuesday, taking on University of Nebraska-Omaha's Maddie Simon in the opening round.
Montana State University golfer and defending champion Hannah Boraas enters the week as the championship's top seed thanks to her victory a year ago over North Dakota State University's Madi Hicks at St. Cloud Country Club, 1-up.
Borass will face St. Catherine golfer Katie Reeves when the Round of 16 begins Tuesday.
Reineke's teammate, Isabelle Lynch, got off to a quick start Monday with a pair of early birdies to help her post a 1-over 73 to earn a spot in the Round of 16, while Ball State University golfer Paige Hillman earns the fourth seed for match play following her round of 75 during qualifying Monday.
The Round of 16 at the 2024 MGA Women's Amateur Match Play is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hastings Golf Club.
