LAKEVILLE, Minn. – During a wet and breezy opening round that featured over a three-hour weather delay before eventually being suspended due to darkness Tuesday, the 104th Minnesota Golf Association Senior Amateur Championship got underway at Brackett’s Crossing Country Club.
The morning swing of tee times were able to finish the opening round as 2023 champion Mark Aldrich posted a 1-under 70 despite a double-bogey at the last to earn a share of the early clubhouse lead with Kevin Enerson, who birdied five of his final seven holes to catapult up the leaderboard and finish in a share of the lead.
Due to inclement weather Tuesday, tournament and course officials halted play at 1:03 p.m., and it would be three hours and 12 minutes before participants would hit their next shots.
On the course, Scott Ainsworth played his opening 12 holes in 1-over Tuesday before play was officially stopped once again due to darkness at 7:35 p.m.
Jay Coatta managed a 2-over 73 during his opening round and currently sits in a share of fourth place with Tim Peterson (through 13 holes) and Tony Brown (through 11 holes).
Among Tuesday’s highlights at Brackett’s Crossing, Eric Heimsness recorded an albatross at the par-5 third hole, sinking his second shot from 234 yards with a 7-wood.
The first round will resume at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, followed by the start of the second round.
