BIWABIK, Minn. -- The Minnesota Golf Association’s Amateur Championship Qualifying season started on Monday with qualifying at Giants Ridge as Dan Bidle earned medalist honors shooting a 3-under par 69.
The qualifier was conducted to determine the field for the MGA’s annual stroke play championship, the 110th MGA Amateur Championship, July 15-17 at Medina Golf and Country Club, in Medina, Minn.
Bidle, Virginia Municipal Golf Course, will be joined by Taylor Sundbom, Enger Park Golf Course, who shot a 1-under par 71. The final two qualifying spots go to Grant Exsted, Fiddlestix Golf Club, and Brian Nelson, Mendakota Golf Club, both of whom shot a 5-over par 77.
Chris Conklin, Hazeltine National Golf Club, and Austin Fowler, Pokegama Golf Club, finished as first and second alternates, respectively.
The Giants Ridge qualifier had a field of 23 players with 4 qualifying spots.
