ALEXANDRIA, Minn. – With a 5-under par 67 Wednesday, the team of Sarah Burnham and Kenzie Neisen grabbed the early lead at the 2015 Minnesota Women’s State Four-Ball Championship at Alexandria Golf Club.

Burnham and Neisen rolled in three birdies with one bogey on the opening nine to make the turn at 2-under par 34.

With an eagle at the par-5 12th, the two would jump to 4-under before making a bogey at the 13th.

Finishing strong with back-to-back birdies at Nos. 14 and 15, Burnham and Neisen would finish the day with a two-stroke lead, shooting 5-under par 67.

Burnham won the event last season with Lexi Bollant as her partner, but the two needed a playoff to edge Neisen and her sister Steffi to claim the title.

Savannah Stone and Brittany Neff opened the championship with a 3-under par 69 Wednesday, two shots off the lead.

Stone and Neff started quickly with back-to-back birdies on the first and second holes, before making bogey at the third.

The two would rebound with a birdie on the fourth hole and made the turn at 2-under par 34. The pair rolled in three birdie putts on the final nine holes, but would make bogey at 13 and another on the final hole to finish the first round in second place at 69.

Sierra Langlie and Emily Israelson will begin the final round Thursday in third place as the two fired a 2-under par 70 to open the tournament Wednesday.

With three birdies and a pair of bogeys on the opening nine holes, Langlie and Israelson headed to the back at 1-under par.

The two would card a pair of birdies with one bogey on the back to shoot 70 and will begin the final round Thursday three shots off the lead.

The final round of the 2015 Minnesota Women’s State Four-Ball Championship gets underway Thursday, with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Alexandria Golf Club.
