Deutsch and Thorson Shoot Even Par to Advance In MGA Qualifier

ROCHESTER, Minn., -- Eric Deutsch and Alex Craig Thorson both shot an even-par 70 at Soldiers Memorial Field Golf Course Tuesday in the Players Division to Qualify for the 2013 Minnesota Golf Association's Players Championship.

Deutsch, Rochester Golf & Country Club, and Thorson, Austin Country Club were the only two from the Players Division to qualify as Alex Kapraun, Somerby Golf Club, and Ben Meyer, Austin Country Club, finished as first and second alternates respectively.

The qualifier was held to determine the field at the MGA's three annual match-play tournaments in June. The MGA Players Championships will be played June 24-26 at Interlachen Country Club in Edina, Minn., and the MGA Senior Players Championships and the MGA Mid-Players Championships will be held cocurrently at Island View Golf Club in Waconia, Minn. June 18-20.

In the Mid-Players Division, Greg Peterson of Northern Hills Patrons, was the lone qualifier shooting a 1-over par 70 to advance. Paul Carlson, Rush Creek Golf Club, and Elton Mosman, Eastwood Golf Club, finished as first and second alternates respectively.

Larry Keithahn, Hiawatha Golf Club, was the sole qualifier in the Senior Division carding a 7-over par 77. Thomas Bruckman, Med City Golf Club, and Donald Roberts, Rochester Golf & Country Club, finished as first and second alternates respectively.

The Soldiers Memorial Field qualifier hosted 24 players vying for just four total spots.
