How They're Doing: Minnesotans on Pro Tour Money Lists -- Jan 6
January 6, 2025
BIWABIK, Minn. – Helped by a quick start with three birdies through his first six holes Monday, Leo Gellert fired the only round below par, a 1-under 71 at The Quarry at Giants Ridge to open the 45th Minnesota Boys’ Junior PGA Championship with a one stroke lead.
When the tournament resumes Tuesday, Gellert will have to fend off Owen Bjork and Kyler Schwamb, both sitting one shot back following their respective rounds of even par 72.
Gellert, from North Mankato, Minn., took advantage of both par-5’s during his outward nine Monday, carding birdies at the second and fifth holes before rolling in his third birdie at the par-4 sixth.
Carrying momentum to the final nine, Gellert again carded birdie at the 10th, but took a step back with a bogey at the 13th. He would go on to finish his day on top of the leaderboard at 1-under after carding a double-bogey at the 15th.
Tee times for the final round of the 45th Minnesota Boys’ Junior PGA Championship begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday at The Quarry at Giants Ridge.
