Extended Season Boosts Golf Rounds in Minnesota in 2024

WINONA, Minn. – Alex Kapraun carded a 2-over par 73 Thursday at the Bridges to earn medalist honors and qualify for the 2014 MGA Players’ Championship.
The qualifier was held to determine the field at the 36th MGA Players’ Championship June 23-25 at Woodhill Country Club in Wayzata, Minn.
A field of just five players competed for only one qualifying position. Kapraun, Somerby Golf Club, qualified for the championship, while William Leaf, the Bridges, and Jason Edstrom, the Bridges, finished as first and second alternates, respectively.
In the Mid-Players Division, Scott Threinen, Somerby Golf Club, shot an 8-over par 79 Thursday to qualify for the MGA Mid-Players Championship.
Threinen grabbed the lone qualifying spot in a field of three players as the Mid-Players’ Championship will be played June 17-19 at Brackett’s Crossing Country Club in Lakeville, Minn.
Donald Roberts, Rochester Golf and Country Club, outlasted Thomas Bruckman, Med City Golf Club, as the two needed extra holes to decide the only qualifying spot for the MGA Senior Players’ Championship.
The tournament will be played June 17-19 at Brackett’s Crossing Country Club in Prior Lake, Minn.
