Extended Season Boosts Golf Rounds in Minnesota in 2024

SAUK CENTRE, Minn., -- Patrick Larkin shot a 2-over par 74 Thursday to earn top honors in the Players Division at the 2013 Minnesota Golf Association's Players Championship Qualifier at Greystone Golf Club.
Larkin, St. Cloud Country Club, qualified on the final day and will be joined by Bennett Black, Alexandria Golf Club, who shot a 3-over par 75, and by Trenton Olson, Village Green Golf Club, who finished at 4-over par 76. Brian Loushine, Chisago Lakes Golf Course, carded a 5-over par 77 to earn the fifth and final qualifying position. Ross Miller, Sundance Golf Club, and Bryant Buckellew, Meadows at Mystic, finished as first and second alternates, respectively.
The qualifier was played to determine the field at the MGA's three match-play tournaments in June. The Players Championship will be played at Interlachen Country Club in Edina, Minn., June 24-26 and the Mid-Players and Senior Players Championships will be played cocurrently at Island View Golf Club in Waconia, Minn., June 18-20.
In the Mid-Players Division, Joe Sauer, Sienna Country Club, earned top honors shooting a 5-over par 77 while Jerry Rose, Alexandria Golf Club, shot a 6-over par 78 to earn a spot in the June tournament. Rick Frieburg, Monticello Country Club, and Tom Bruckner, Rush Creek Golf Club, finished as first and second alternates, respectively.
Mike Howell, Village Green Golf Club, finished as the sole qualifier in the Senior Division shooting a 2-over par 74 to advance. Ray Sauer, Tianna Country Club, and Greg Mattson, Pebble Creek Golf Club, finished as first and second alternates, respectively.
The qualifier at Greystone played host to a total of 45 players competing for only seven qualifying spots.
