Lehman Eliminated From U.S. Senior Amateur After Opening Round of Match Play

  CASHIERS, N.C. – The second round of stroke play resumed early Monday at Wade Hampton Golf Club after it was postponed due to darkness Sunday.

After two rounds of stroke play Jim Lehman was tied for 25th at 8-over par 152 and advanced to the match play portion of the championship.

Lehman, Minnetonka, Minn., posted a 3-over par 75 during Saturday’s opening round before carding a 5-over par 77 Sunday to make the cut as the top 64 players advanced to match play.

Lehman, winner of the Minnesota Golf Association Senior Amateur in August, faced Paul Schlachter, Pittsburgh, Pa., during the opening Round of 64 Monday and lost 2 and 1, eliminating him from competition.

Mark Knutson, Eden Prairie, Minn., finished his second round early Monday and carded a 9-over par 81 for a two-day total of 17-over 161 to miss the cut for match play.

Craig Stein, Moorhead, Minn., carded a 9-over par 81 Monday and finished tied for 126th at 21-over 165, failing to qualify for match play.

Jeff Wiltse, Bemidji, Minn., finished his second round Sunday with a 13-over par 85, failing to qualify for match play as he finished the tournament tied for 138th at 25-over 169.
