Lloyd Begins Krugel Defense with 65

MANKATO -- Defending champion J.B. Lloyd shot a 6-under-par 65 at Mankato Golf Club in the first round of the Loren Krugel Invitational, and as a result he has a three-stroke lead.

The two closest pursuers of the two-time former MGA Mid-Am champ are both college players. Jon Trasamar, a junior-to-be at the University of Minnesota, is in second place with a 68; and Toby Robinson, who concluded his senior year at Bethel University this spring, is third after a 69.

The 37 players who made the first-day cut will play 27 holes on Sunday.
