McCarthy's 74 Earns a Spot in MGA Amateur Championship Along with Three Others

  LAKE CITY, Minn. – Miles McCarthy carded a 3-over par 74 Tuesday at Lake City Golf to earn medalist honors as well as a spot in the 112th Minnesota Golf Association Amateur Championship.

A field of 19 golfers comprised the field for the qualifier with four players earning a spot in this year’s tournament, which will be played July 20-22 at Northland Country Club in Duluth, Minn.

McCarthy, Windsong Farm, will be joined at the championship by Jon Holmes, Valleywood Golf Course, who fired a 4-over par 76 to qualify.

Jake Olsonoski, the Meadows at Mystic Lake, fired a 6-over par 77 to earn a spot, while Nate Smith, the Bridges, grabbed the final position, shooting 7-over par 78.

Mitchell Anderson (Red Wing Golf Club), Fritz Banfield (Rochester Golf and Country Club) and Chase Mouch (Tanners Brook Golf Club) finished as first, second and third alternates, respectively.
