BECKER, Minn. – The Fertile-Beltrami High School boys golf team combined for a team score of 308 Wednesday at Pebble Creek Golf Club to claim a 13-stroke victory at the 2021 Minnesota State Boys’ Class A Championship for the first team title in school history.
The Falcons got a huge boost from junior Rylin Petry, who earned medalist honors with his 36-hole score of 2-over 146, one stroke better than defending champion, Community Christian High School senior Brett Reid.
Sophomore Ethan Finseth helped the cause with his 13th-place finish, shooting 11-over 155, while freshman Masen Nowacki contributed with a tie for 15th at 13-over 157.
Ada-Borup sophomore Ryan Engel fired a final-round 71 Wednesday to finish third individually, one shot better than New Life Academy sophomore Cole Witherow and Kittson County Central sophomore Tyler Hennen, who finished tied for fourth.
The Falcons finished 13 strokes better than Legacy Christian Academy and 27 shots better than Sleepy Eye United’s third-place finish at 656.
