The quarterfinal round of the 2014 Minnesota PGA Senior Match Play Championship resumed at 2:04 p.m. after a delay of one hour and 34 minutes.
WOODBURY, Minn. – The quarterfinal round of the 2014 Minnesota PGA Senior Match Play Championship at Prestwick Golf Club was suspended at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday due to wet course conditions.
Don Berry, the two-time defending champion, advanced through the opening round after defeating James Kidd, Windsong Farm, 1-up.
Berry, Edinburgh USA, defeated 2009 winner Bill Isrealson during the final match last season at Deer Run Golf Club.
Dave Nordeen, Somerby Golf Club, edged Bob Miller, Rich Spring Golf Club, 1-up, to advance to the quarterfinal round Wednesday, while Minnesota Golf Association Tournament Director, Doug Hoffmann, advanced to the second round as well.
Steve Whillock, Oak Marsh Golf Club, wasted little time during his match with Craig Waryan, Edinburgh USA, cruising to a 5 and 4 victory during the opening round.
David Richardson, Soldiers Memorial Field Golf Course, won by default over Dale Jones, Mendakota Country Club, during the first round, while Jeff Otto, Olympic Hills Golf Club, downed Peter Krause, Edinburgh USA, 3 and 2, to advance as well.
Brad Schmierer, Hastings Country Club, had little trouble getting past Ed Bialek, Oak Ridge Country Club, 6 and 5, and Thomas Vizina, Oaks Golf Club, advanced to the quarterfinals as he defeated Marty Lass, Edina Country Club, 4 and 2.
