Savini Medals With 71 at Bunker Hills, 15 Others Advance

  COON RAPIDS, Minn. – Carding a 1-under par 71 Tuesday at Bunker Hills Golf Club, Maxwell Savini earned medalist honors as well as a spot in the 2015 Minnesota State Open.

The qualifying field was comprised of 73 golfers competing for 16 spots to this year’s championship, which will be played July 24-26 at Mendakota Country Club in Mendota Heights, Minn.

Savini, Rum River Hills Golf Club, will be joined by Corey Schommer, Legends Club, and by Chandler Fritcher, Hadley Creek Golf Club, as both players carded rounds of even par 72 to qualify.

David Stein, Rush Creek Golf Club, Ryan Gallagher, Chomonix Golf Club, and David Morgan, Mendakota Country Club, all earned spots Tuesday, carding 1-over par 73.

Julian Ramirez (Riverwood National Golf Course), Brian Hills (Wild Marsh Golf Club), Adam Wynia (Edinburgh USA) and Andrew Benson (Chaska Town Course) each qualified shooting 2-over par 74.

James Hutchings (StoneRidge Golf Club), Ian Hessels (New Richmond Golf Club), Peter Krause (Edinburgh USA), Dylan Baker (Chaska Town Course), Jack Elliot (the Meadows Golf Club) and Jonathan Reigstad (Keller Golf Club) grabbed the final six qualifying spots, shooting 3-over par 75 Tuesday.

Mark Clouse, North Links Golf Course, and Cory Blenkush, Baker National Golf Club, finished as first and second alternates, respectively.
