BLAINE, Minn. – A late eagle Thursday at Victory Links Golf Course lifted Pranay Singh to a round of 3-under 68 and medalist honors in the Boys’ 16-18 Division at the 30th Twin Cities Junior Championship.

Singh played his opening nine in 1-under before carding two birdies and an eagle against two bogeys to claim a three-stroke victory over Tyler Wanous.

A bogey at the third hole put Singh at 1-over for the championship, but he would tally a pair of birdies at the eighth and ninth holes to turn in 1-under. He fell back to even with a bogey at the 11th, but quickly found his footing with birdies at the 12th and 13th before rolling in eagle at the par-5 15th. An inconsequential bogey at the par-3 17th gave Singh the victory with a 3-under 68.

Wanous overcame a rough start Thursday, carding a double-bogey at the first and a bogey at the second, to fire an even par 71 to place second in the Boys’ 16-18 Division, three shots behind Singh.

Rolling in three birdies and one bogey over his final seven holes during his front nine, Wanous would limit the damage to turn in 1-over. He got back to even par with a birdie at the 12th, but gave a stroke back with his bogey at the 13th. Carding birdie on the final three par-5’s Thursday, Wanous got back to even once again with his birdie at the 16th for a round of 71.

Collin Dalseth and Blake Forrest each carded a 1-over 72 Thursday to finish in a tie for third place, four shots behind Singh.

Lanie Veenendall played 14 holes in 4-over par Thursday and hung on for a three-stroke victory over Samantha Youngquist in the Girls’ 16-18 Division, shooting an 8-over 79.

Following a rocky start with a double-bogey at the first, Veenendall found a rhythm and would play her next 13 holes in 2-over par. Veenendall stumbled late with bogeys at the 15th and 17th before a double-bogey at the last, earning a three-stroke victory over Samantha Youngquist.

Jamie Bimberg carded an 85 Thursday to place third, while Allison Loer finished fourth with a 91.

In the Boys’ 13-15 Division, Parker Sands rolled in birdies early and often Thursday, carding a 7-under 64 to claim a four-stroke victory over Gavin Grahek.

Sands carded four consecutive birdies early during his opening nine Thursday, and would turn in 5-under. Back-to-back birdies at the 11th and 12th holes put Sands at 7-under for the championship before his eighth birdie of the round came at the 16th. Sands’ only blemish of the round came late at the 17th, where he took bogey, but would still finish on top of the leaderboard by four with his 67.

Jovie Ordal earned medalist honors in the Girls’ 13-15 Division with her round of 9-over 80 to finish three strokes better than Carly Hamman.
