Snyder, Jones, Chiles and Berry All Advance at MN PGA Match Play

  HOPKINS, Minn. – Defending his title from a year ago at the Minnesota PGA Match Play Championship, Brent Snyder cruised during his opening match Tuesday, advancing to the third round Wednesday at Oak Ridge Country Club.

Snyder, Troy Burne Golf Club, earned a bye during the opening round before facing Matt Kleinbrook, Windsong Farm, during the second round, wasting little time as he moved past Kleinbrook, 5 and 4.

Dale Jones, Mendakota Country Club, advanced out of the second round Tuesday as he downed Tom Kirkland, Victory Links Golf Club, 3 and 2.

Jones will face Eric Chiles during the third round Wednesday as Chiles, Chaska Town Course, defeated George Smith, Bent Creek Golf Club, 5 and 4 to move on.

Last year’s runner-up, Don Berry, didn’t have much trouble getting to the third round Tuesday as he defeated Shannon O’Neil, Rich Spring Golf Club, 4 and 3.

Timothy Brovold, Bunker Hills Golf Club, advanced after downing James Kidd, Windsong Farm, 3 and 2, and will now face Scott Cole during the third round Wednesday. Cole, StoneRidge Golf Club, got past Peter Krause, Edinburgh USA, 4 and 3, to move on.

The third round of the 2014 Minnesota PGA Match Play Championship is set to get underway Wednesday with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. The quarterfinal round will begin after the conclusion of the third round Wednesday at Oak Ridge Country Club.
