Extended Season Boosts Golf Rounds in Minnesota in 2024

MAPLE PLAIN, Minn. -- Bobby Thomas carded a 1-under par 71 Wednesday to earn medalist honors in the Players Division at the 2013 Minnesota Golf Association Players Championship Qualifier held at Pioneer Creek Golf Course.
Thomas, Bracketts Crossing Country Club, qualified along with six others to play in the MGA's three match play tournaments in June. The MGA Players Championship will be held June 24-26 at Interlachen Country Club in Edina, Minn., and the MGA Mid-Players and MGA Senior Players Championships will be held cocurrently at Island View Golf Club in Waconia, Minn., June 18-20.
Also qualifying the the Players Division are: Andrew Benson, Minnetonka Country Club, (73); John DuToit, Chaska Town Course, (73); Miles Death, Burl Oaks Golf Club, (73); Alex Kline, Links at Northfork, (75); Tony Krogen, Marshall Golf Club, (75); and Trent Peterson, Valleywood Golf Course, (76). Jordan Ryan, Hazeltine National Golf Club, and Michael Greenberg, Medina Golf and Country Club, finished as first and second alternates respectively.
In the Mid-Players Division, Ryan (who finished as an alternate in the Players Division) earned top honors shooting a 4-over par 76. Also qualifying were Terry O'Loughlin, Eagle Valley Golf Club and Michael Coffey of Wayzata Country Club. Christian Klein, Woodhill Country Club, and Jon Freeman, Chaska Town Course, finished as first and second alternates respectively.
Gary Johnson of Island View Golf Club finished on top of the Seniors Players Division carding a 4-over par 76 to qualify along with Craig Hanson, Windson Farm, and Cal Simmons, Interlachen Country Club, who both finished at 6-over par. Ryan James, Hazeltine National Golf Club, and John Walters, Bent Creek Golf Club finished as first and second alternates respectively.
The Pioneer Creek was the second largest qualifier with 82 players battling for a total of 13 spots available.
