 OTTERTAIL, Minn. -- Ben Welle fired a 2-under par 70 Monday at Thumper Pond Golf Course to earn medalist honors and qualify for the Minnesota Golf Association's Amateur Champtionship.

The qualifier was held to determine the field at the 110th MGA Amateur Championship July 15-17 at Edinburgh USA.

Welle, Village Green Golf Club, will be joined by Logan Palmer, Village Green Golf Club, who carded a 2-over par 74 and by Jackson Ronnei, Pines at Grand View Lodge, and Jim Foss, Oakcrest Golf Club, both of whom shot a 3-over par 75. Grady Meyer, Windsong Farm, earned the final qualifying spot shooting a 4-over par 76.

Collin Lervick, Minnetonka Country Club, and Bryant Buckellew, Meadows Golf Club, finished as first and second alternates, respectively.
