BIWABIK, Minn. -- Andrew Petersen, Chris Baas and Phil Schmidt, of Green Lea Golf Course, and Steve Petersen, of Northfield Golf Club, won the 8th MGA Team Championship today at Giants Ridge's The Legend and The Quarry golf courses. The four-person team posted rounds of 136-135--271 (17 under par) to beat the runner up team of Shane Johnson and Kevin Noreen, of Northland Country Club, and Jason Patronas and Kyle Ness, of Lester Park Golf Course, who posted 136-137--273 (15 under par).
Finishing in third place, at 14-under-par 274 (141-133), and all from Bunker Hills Golf Club, was Bill Tadewald, Scott Fenwick, John Anderson and Dan Grassman.

For Andrew Petersen, Baas and Schmidt, this is the second time in the winners circle at the MGA Team Championship. They partnered with Mick Hockinson to win the championship in 2006.
The championship format is 36 holes of one best ball score among two 2-person teams (four players in total, all of whom can be from different MGA member golf clubs). The Legend and The Quarry play to a par of 72 (thus 144-144 -- 288 is even par for the team championship format), and they play to a length of 6,930 and 6,696 yards, respectively.
