The drive on this slight dogleg left from the tips must carry marshland (and avoid OB left) to a generous fairway sloping left to right. From the 180-210-yard “go zone,” players decide whether to challenge the creek guarding the ample green right, left and front or lay up for a 75-yard chip to a complex putting surface.
The green contains a T-shaped ridge forming three distinct areas, but there is a bank up front providing options. A little course knowledge can help.
“If you fly it to the red area [front], it hits into a bank and either stops or pops up and can roll down to the white- or blue-flagged areas,” says GM Gary O’Connor. “Ideally, with that red flag, you aim five or 10 yards short and your ball pops onto the green or stays short for a simple chip up to the hole.”
“Once they know how to play the hole, people look back, shake their head and say, ‘I want to play it again!’”
