The family-owned and -run Stalker Lake GC is tucked away in beautiful northern Minnesota lake country. This executive course features narrow fairways with thick rough and varied-sized greens. With ranging lengths off the tee, this is a course that definitely caters to people who enjoy golf.
The first tee box of any course can be intimidating, but knowing it’s the track’s toughest hole makes the risk-reward factor more exciting. As the course’s sole par 5, No. 1 is a double dogleg that will make any player think twice before trying anything but hitting straight off the tee—especially with the white OB line on the right and a beautiful waterfall feature that dips into a series of ponds covering 150 yards up the left.
“If they hit a long drive, they can get home in two, but it is very tight by the green,” says superintendent Randy Swonger.
