ST. MICHAEL, Minn. – The championship flight of the MGA Women's Senior Match Play Championship is down to its final four after a decisive round of quarterfinals Wednesday at Fox Hollow Golf Club, with Lynn Anderson setting the tone in a 9-and-7 rout that was all but over before the back nine.

Anderson, of Keller Golf Club, never let Sara Martinson into the match, closing it out 9 and 7 for the most lopsided result of the round. She'll be joined in the semifinals by Leigh Klasse of MN Golf Community: Metro, who handled Shelley Kasperek 4 and 3; Angela Ause of Highland National, a 4-and-3 winner over Alison Hurley; and fellow Keller member Linda Goodno, who edged Adele Peterson 3 and 2.

The flights delivered their own drama. In the First Flight semifinals, Sally Platt of Rush Creek advanced when Wenmei Qi conceded their match, while Krista Larsen (Fox Hollow) edged Kore Grate 2 and 1 — setting up a Platt-Larsen final.

The Second Flight produced contrasting routes to its title match. Lola Heinrich of Spring Brook slipped past Pam Dorholt 2 and 1, and Tammy Smith-Foyt (Bunker Hills) ran away from Cheryl Lombardi 7 and 5 to earn a date with Heinrich for the flight crown.

In the Third Flight, Mary Bodem of Anoka closed out Karen Backlund 3 and 1, and Kathryn Sartain (Bunker Hills) outlasted Pamela Thein 2 up, sending the two through to the flight final.

That sets up a full slate of decisive matches. The championship flight's semifinals pit its four semifinalists against one another with a place in the title match on the line, while the First, Second and Third Flight finals — Platt vs. Larsen, Heinrich vs. Smith-Foyt, and Bodem vs. Sartain — will crown their own winners.
