Extended Season Boosts Golf Rounds in Minnesota in 2024

HASTINGS, Minn. – Carding a bogey during her front nine and one more bogey during her back Wednesday at Emerald Greens Golf Club, Selena Wu carded a 2-over 74 to remain tied for the lead with Olivia Salonek after 36 holes of play at the 2023 Minnesota State Junior Girls’ Championship.
Much like her opening round Tuesday, a steady Wu carded bogey on her second hole Wednesday to slip to 1-under for the championship before playing her next 13 holes in even par.
A bogey at the par-5 16th would put Wu back to even par, where she would finish her second round with a 2-over 74.
Salonek began her second round on a high note Wednesday, carding a birdie at the par-4 third to take the outright lead at 3-under.
A bogey at the par-3 14th was nullified by a second birdie of the day at the 15th, but Salonek would stumble late with a double-bogey at the 16th and a bogey at the 17th to finish in a share of the lead with Wu at even par 144.
Jordana Windhorst-Knudsen and Ava Hanneman will begin Thursday’s final round tied for third at 5-over 149, five shots off the leaders.
A final-round 81 was good enough for Shayla Nordlund to earn medalist honors in the First Flight, holding off Lexi O’Donnell, who carded a final-round 77 to finish one back of Nordlund at 13-over 157.
The championship now shifts to Hastings Golf Club for the final round Thursday, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
