Bethel Claims Third Straight Minnesota Golf Classic; Kent State's Acevedo Medals

MAPLE PLAIN, Minn. - Carding a team score of 299 Sunday at Pioneer Creek Golf Course, the Bethel University men's golf team earned a one-stroke victory over the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to win it's third consecutive Minnesota Golf Classic.

The Royals were led by senior Jack Wellen, who fired a final-round 69 Sunday to move up 19 spots on the leaderboard to finish tied for fourth at even par 216.

Bethel also got help from senior Will Karkoc, who finished tied for 21st at 221, and by freshman Charlie Solberg, who bookended his second-round 74 with two rounds of 76 to close out the championship tied for 38th at 10-over 226.

Kent State University's Ramiro Acevedo earned medalist honors Sunday by carding back-to-back rounds of 2-under 70 during the final two rounds to claim a one-stroke victory over Furman University's Max Halflants at 3-under 213.
