Fertile-Beltrami Boys Ahead Early in Class A Tourney; Boe Ahead by 3 in Individuals

BECKER, Minn. -- Looking to claim their first Class A state title since 2022, the boys from Fertile-Beltrami posted a team score of 320 Tuesday at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker to take the lead heading into the final round.

After winning back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022, the Falcons will have to fend off Park Christian who trail by two shots to claim their third state title in school history.

Park Christian was lead by junior Carson Boe who fired a 4-under-par 68 to claim a three-shot lead over Walker-Hackensack-Askeley's Parker Brock in the individual portion of the tournament.

Starting on the back-nine, Boe was a ho-hum even par through his first 11 holes but ended the round on a tear, birdieing four of his last seven holes to finish at 4-under. Brock started hot, birdieing his first two holes followed by a double bogey on the par-3 4th hole. He would go on to birdie the 6th and 7th holes and would finish his round with all pars other than a bogey on the 16th to finish at 1-under, three back of Boe.

Just behind Boe are two 2024 Mr. Minnesota Golf finalists: Hunter Schmidt of Martin County West, who finished in third place at even-par 72, and Evan Villagomez of Heritage Christian Academy, who finished in a tie for fifth place at 2-over-par 74. Renville County Wests' Ryan Schrupp finished sits in fourth place after a 1-over 73.

The final round will take place beginning at 7:30am on Wednesday.
