Fertile-Beltrami Cruises to Class A Boys' Title; Brock Mounts Comeback to Claim Individual Title

BECKER, Minn. -- Entering the final round with a two-shot lead over Park Christian, the boys from Fertile-Beltrami extended their lead and claimed the 2024 Class A boys state title.

The Falcons posted a final round 307, 13 shots better than their first round and the lowest of the tournament, for a two-day total of 627 to pull away from the field for an eight-shot victory over second place finishers Walker-Hackensack-Akeley who finished at 635.

With the win, Fertile-Beltrami claims their third boys state title in four years and third overall. They received solid play from their whole team with their four counting scorers finishing within the top 27 of the individual tournament lead by senior Masen Nowacki who finished in a tie for 10th place.

On the individual side, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley's Parker Brock overcame a three-shot entering the round to claim the individual title over first-round leader Carson Boe.

Brock, a junior, used a bogey-free 3-under-par 69 in the final round to post a total of 140 to pass Boe and claim his first state title. The only bogey-free round of the tournament, Brock played a very steady round with 15 pars and birdies on 2nd, 5th and 17th holes to claim a two-shot victory.

Boe, starting on the 10th hole, had a shaky first-nine making the turn at 3-over for the round. He would battle back on the second-nine shooting a 1-under 35 to post a 74 and two day total of 142 but it was not enough to catch Brock.

Two Mr. Minnesota Golf finalists finished just behind Brock and Boe. Heritage Christian Academy's Evan Villagomez used a final round 3-under 69 to finish in solo third place at 143 while Martin County West's Hunter Schmidt fired a final round 1-over 73 to finish in a tie for 4th with New Life Academy of Woodbury's Avery Ross at 145.
