MGA Foundation Jim Mendesh Memorial Scholarship
Supporting Minnesota students with a connection to golf as they pursue hands-on careers and vocations.
About the Scholarship
This scholarship honors Jim Mendesh, a self-taught craftsman who put a strong work ethic and a passion for hands-on work to good use. In his memory, his family wants to support students who share his same applied, skilled approach in pursuit of their career aspirations.
The scholarship aims to provide financial support for young people pursuing full-time study at an accredited two-year college or vocational-technical school at an approved postsecondary educational institution. The two-year scholarship is $2,500 per year and renewable for the second year.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Pursuing a certificate* or associate degree at a Minnesota State College or University** in a skilled trade or vocation (i.e., electrician, construction, HVAC, medical assistant, teacher's aide, etc.).
- Must be high school seniors or graduates who reside in Minnesota.
- Must have a strong connection to the sport of golf (i.e., caddie experience, current or former high school golf team member, employed at a golf facility, parent or guardian employed at a golf facility).
- Must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
- Must plan to enroll in full-time study at an accredited two-year college or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
- Demonstrate financial need as reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Reside in Minnesota at the time of application.
- At the time of application must be a high school senior or graduate up to 22 years of age.

- Completed letter verifying your connection to the sport of golf from a coach, employer, golf facility staff, etc.
- Completed letter with a teacher or advisor recommendation
