Fillmore Central Grabs First Round Lead in Class A Girls Tourney; Beyer Leads Individuals

BECKER, Minn. -- Seeking their first girls state title since 2016 and second overall, Fillmore Central posted a first round team score of 345 at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker to take the early lead heading into the final day.

The Falcons will have to hold off the team from Dawson-Boyd who posted a first round team total of 350 and are vying for their first golf state title in school history.

Fillmore Central was lead by junior Myleigh Scheevel who posted a 6-over-par 78 to trail the first round leader Paige Beyer of Border West.

Beyer started strong with a birdie on her first hole but would falter on the middle stretch of the round going 7-over over on her next 13 holes. She would finish the round solidly with birdies on two of the last four holes to hold a two-shot lead over Scheevel heading into the final round.

Scheevel carded an eagle and birdie against nine bogeys to trail by two shots while B O L D's Kenna Henriksen had four bogeys and two double bogeys to post a 8-over-par 80 to trail Beyer by four shots heading into the final round.

The final round will take place beginning at 12pm on Wednesday.
