Twenty-four of Minnesota’s top junior golfers — 12 girls and 12 boys — have been named to Team Minnesota for 2027. Team Minnesota represents the state in the U.S. National Development Program, a USGA initiative built to reshape the future of elite-level junior golf. Athletes earn their place through the Team Minnesota Points list and a selection process run jointly by the Minnesota Golf Association and Minnesota PGA Section.

How the Team Is Selected
The Team Minnesota Selection Committee — made up of representatives from the Minnesota Golf Association and Minnesota PGA Section — names 24 athletes to the team each year, 12 boys and 12 girls. The top eight in each gender are selected directly from the Team Minnesota Points standings. The remaining spots are filled by the committee, which weighs points-list position alongside head-to-head results, scoring average, work ethic, conduct and teamwork.
Points are earned in Team Minnesota Points list events throughout the season. The Chaska Invitational is the premier points-earning event on that calendar.
Eligibility
- Players must be 13 by the date the team is named (early September each year) and have not reached their 19th birthday on or before July 15th of the year they're on the team.
- They must not be enrolled in college of the year they're on the team (so for this year, a player cannot be enrolled in college for Fall 2026 or Spring 2027).
- Be a Minnesota resident whose parent or guardian files Minnesota state taxes.
- Hold a USGA Handicap Index with at least 20 posted scores, including a minimum of eight competitive rounds in the previous 12 months.
- Compete in a minimum of two Team Minnesota Points list events.
- Agree to the USNDP Code of Conduct.
- Comply with USGA amateur status, anti-doping, sports betting and gender policies.
About the U.S. National Development Program
The U.S. National Development Program is a USGA initiative created to reshape the future of elite-level junior golf. Each participating state assembles a team of its top junior athletes, giving them a structured pathway of competition, development and national exposure. Team Minnesota is the state’s entry in that program, administered by the Minnesota Golf Association in partnership with the Minnesota PGA Section.
About the MGA
Founded in 1901, the Minnesota Golf Association is the governing body over amateur golf in the state, responsible for administering the Rules of Golf, and committed to uphold and promote the game of golf and its values for all golfers in Minnesota. The MGA conducts 23 major amateur championships and 16 USGA qualifying events each year.
