Anderson and Hurley to Face Off at MGA Women's Senior Match Play

Anderson and Hurley to Face Off at MGA Women's Senior Match Play

ELK RIVER, Minn. – A season ago, Linda Goodno defeated Lynn Anderson at the Minnesota Golf Association Women’s Senior Amateur Match Play Championship at Pebble Creek to claim the second win of her career.

On Wednesday at Elk River Golf Club, Goodno and Anderson faced each other in a rematch of last year’s final, and this time it was Anderson who came away on the winning end, 5 and 4.

Tied after nine holes, Anderson pulled away after winning four consecutive holes beginning at the par-4 10th to build a 4-up lead.

In search of her first win since the 2023 season, Anderson closed out the match with a par at the 15th to reach the final match, 5 and 3.

Alison Hurley rallied from an early deficit to dispatch 2011 champion Brenda Williams during Wednesday’s semifinal round in 19 holes to face Anderson in Thursday’s championship match.

Tied through their first five holes, Williams won three of the final four holes during the back nine to take a 3-up lead before Hurley staged a late rally by winning the 16th and 17th before tying the match on the 18th hole.

Winning the first playoff hole, Hurley advanced to the final match in search of her first state title since winning last season’s MGA Women’s Senior Amateur Four-Ball Championship with partner Goodno.

The championship match of the 2025 MGA Women’s Senior Amateur Match Play Championship is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. at Elk River Golf Club.
