Burger Begins 3-Year Term Representing Minnesota for PGA Board of Directors

FRISCO, Texas (Nov. 13, 2023) - Joel Burger, a PGA of America golf professional since 1997 and the CEO of Wexford, a golf and real estate firm based in Edina, Minn., will begin serving a three-year term representing PGA members from Minnesota, Iowa and Nebreska. He was elected as the District 8 Director during the 107th PGA Annual Meeting in Frisco, Texas, headquarters of the PGA of America.

“It's a privilege to serve my fellow PGA of America golf professionals in the Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska PGA sections in representing District 8 as a board member of the PGA of America,” said Burger. “Growing up as a small-town kid from Faribault, Minnesota, I had the good fortune of working for Ken Gorg, PGA and being mentored by his fellow and former National Directors Michael Zinni and Jim Manthis, who collectively inspired me to pursue governance. I look forward to following in their footsteps as a national board member for the PGA of America and serving the game, which has enriched my life in ways I would have never dreamed.”

A graduate from the PGA Golf Management program at New Mexico State University, Burger is a well respected PGA member, committed to service and volunteerism. A multi-award winner at the section level including the Professional Development Award (2005) and Assistant Professional of the Year (2004), Burger has served as a longtime Minnesota PGA Section board member and is certified in golf operations and executive management. He was a regular on the education committee and also served as a section officer, including a stint as president in 2016-2018. Additionally, he is the current chairman of the board for Minnesota PGA subsidiary, Minnesota Golf Charity Events.

The PGA of America Board of Directors is composed of the president, vice president, secretary and 19 directors who establish association policy. The directors include representatives from each of the association's 14 Districts, three independent directors, an at-large member director and a player director, who is a member of the PGA Tour.
