Fillmore Central and Dawson-Boyd Share Class A Girls Title; Lund Claims Individual Title

BECKER, Minn. -- Heading into the final round as the top two teams on the leaderboard, the girls from Fillmore Central and Dawson-Boyd ended up with a share of the Class A girls state title.

Fillmore Central opened the day with a narrow five-shot lead which was chipped away throughout the day by Dawson-Boyd ending in shared title between the two for the first time in Class A since 2003 when Caledonia and Spring Grove shared the title.

In a weather shortened final round of 16 holes, Fillmore Central posted a two-day total of 683 (345-338) to claim their first title since 2016 and second overall while the Dawson-Boyd also posted a two-day total of 683 (350-333) to claim their first title in school history.

Dawson-Boyd was lead by junior Lindsey Lund who took the crown in the individual portion of the tournament with a two day total of 11-over 147 (80-67) to edge out B O L D's Kenna Henriksen, who posted a 148 (80-68), by one shot.

Lund opened the day in tie for third place behind first round leader Paige Beyer of Border West. Lund started with a steady front-nine of even-par and would play the back-nine in 3-over to claim the victory by one.

Henriksen also opened the day in a tie for third place after a opening round 80 and would go on to tally a pair of 2-over par nines during the final round to finish one shot shy of the title.

With the win, Lund claimed her first state title.

First round leader Beyer would struggle throughout the final round playing the 16 holes played in 13-over to finish in a tie for third place at 17-over 153 (76-77) along with Fillmore Central's Myleigh Scheevel (78-75) and Dawson-Boyd's Alyssa Swedzinski (84-69).
