Holtz, Luan and Stenzel Tied Going Into Final Round of the Minnesota Junior Boys’ Championship

Jack Holtz, Justin Luan and Cameron Stenzel are tied for the lead after two rounds at 1-under-par, 143 at the Minnesota Junior Boys' Championship at Little Crow Country Club in Spicer.

Holtz, who won the 2022 Minnesota PGA Junior 'Sota Series Players Tour Tournament of Champions at Royal Golf Club, followed his opening round even-par 72 with a 1-under-par 71 Tuesday.

Starting on the 10th hole, Holz quickly got into red figures for the day with a birdie on his first hole. He followed the opening birdie with two pars at the 11th and 12th holes and carded another birdie on the par-5 13th hole to get to two-under for the day. After the birdie at the 13th, he would make nine pars in a row until he reached the par-5 fifth hole where he made birdie followed by a double bogey at the par-3 sixth hole to fall to 1-under for the day where he finished the day.

Luan, who opened the championship with a 1-under-par 71, started on the 10th hole and had an eventful front-nine that would amount to an even-par 36. He would card birdies at the 11th, 12th and 18th holes against a bogey at the par-3 13th and double bogey at the par-4 17th.

Turning in even-par, Luan would make another double bogey at the par-4 third followed by back-to-back birdies at the fifth and sixth holes to get back to 1-over for the day, 1-under overall for the championship and a share of the lead where he would finish the day.

Stenzel, who opened with an even-par 72, also started on the 10th hole. He came out firing on all cylinders birdieing the 12th, 13th, 15th and 18th holes on his way to a 4-under-par 32 on his front nine and the solo lead. He would slow down on his back nine, starting with five straight pars and bogeying three out of his last four holes to close with a 3-over-par 39 and 1-under-par 71 for the day.

The top-24 players plus ties after the second round made the cut and are eligible to play the final round on Wednesday. The cut came at 6-over-par.

The final round will take place on Wednesday morning at Little Crow Country Club, with tee times beginning at 7:40 a.m.
