MAPLE GROVE, Minn. – Following her opening-round 68 Monday with a 1-over 73 during the final round Tuesday, Abigail Labrador earned a four-stroke victory over Kieley Hanson to claim the 50th Minnesota Girls’ Junior PGA Championship at Rush Creek Golf Club.
Labrador and Hanson both qualify for the 2025 National Junior PGA Championship July 29-Aug. 1 at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Ind.
Labrador entered Tuesday’s final round with a two-stroke advantage before playing her opening 10 holes in even par.
The St. Michael-Albertville High School sophomore traded a birdie for a bogey at the 11th and 12th holes, and again at the 14th and 15th, to remain even for her final round.
A bogey at the par-5 18th put Labrador into the clubhouse with a four-stroke victory at 3-under 141.
Labrador earned a second-place finish at the Class AAA championship in June at Bunker Hills Golf Club prior to placing tied for 14th at the Minnesota State Junior Girls’ Championship last month at Little Crow Golf Resort.
Hanson, who notched a top-10 finish at the Class AAA season finale, opened the championship Monday with a round of 1-over 73 to sit five shots off the lead.
Carding a pair of bogeys over her first three holes Tuesday, Hanson fell to 3-over for the championship before getting a stroke back with her first birdie of the day at the fourth.
Turning in 1-over, Hanson tallied a quick pair of birdies to open her back nine and move to even par for the tournament.
Converting her birdie opportunity at the 14th, Hanson dipped into red figures but would take a double-bogey on the final hole to card a final-round 72 and finish four shots back at 1-over 145.
Genevieve Birkeland, a 2025 Ms. Minnesota Golf finalist, posted a 3-over 75 during Tuesday’s final round to finish in third place at 2-over 146, while 2025 Class AAA individual champion and Ms. Minnesota Golf winner, Ava Hanneman, bounced back from an opening-round 78 by shooting even par during her final round to finish fourth at 150.
