HOPKINS, Minn. – Carding a pair of late birdies Saturday at Meadowbrook Golf Course, Chase Hoops posted an opening-round 68 to take the early lead at the 34th Twin Cites Championship.
When the championship resumes Sunday, Hoops will carry a one-stroke lead over 2018 champion Erik Bredesen, Leon De Lange, Matt Chalberg, Nate Wareham and Garett Sperber into the final 18 holes of play when the venue shifts to Baker Nation Golf Club.
Hoops opened the championship with three birdies against one bogey during his opening nine to turn in 2-under for his round.
Stumbling with an early bogey at the 10th, Stoops rebounded with birdies at the 12th and 14th holes to reach 3-under before he was slowed with a bogey at the 15th.
After converting his birdie chance at the par-3 16th, Hoops took advantage of the par-5 18th for his final birdie of the day to pace the field with a round of 4-under 68.
Sunday’s final round will face a crowded leaderboard as the top 15 players are separated by just two strokes.
The final round of the 2025 Twin Cities Championship shifts to Baker National Golf Club.
