Japan's Matsuyama Commits to 3M Open


BLAINE, MN - Today 3M Open tournament officials announced Japan's No. 1 ranked Hideki Matsuyama has committed to compete in Minnesota's only PGA TOUR event, scheduled for July 24-30 at TPC Twin Cities.

Matsuyama will be making his second start at the 3M Open. He was T7 in 2019 and had to withdraw last year prior to starting with an injury. The 31-year-old 2021 Masters champion and winner of eight career PGA TOUR titles is currently ranked 31st in the world and is 55th in the FedExCup standings. He has a pair of top ten finishes this year, including a solo-fifth at THE PLAYERS Championship.

Matsuyama is currently one of six major championship winners in the field that includes Stewart Cink (British Open), Jason Dufner (PGA Championship), Lucas Glover (U.S. Open), Jimmy Walker (PGA Championship), and Gary Woodland (U.S. Open).
