EDINA, Minn. (September 11, 2025) – The Minnesota Golf Association (MGA) in collaboration with the City of Edina and the Braemar Golf Course, is pleased to announce that the inaugural Minnesota Adaptive Open is just weeks away and set to begin, September 26-28 at Braemar GC in Edina, Minn.
“We are thrilled to announce the inaugural Minnesota Adaptive Open, a first of its kind championship presented in partnership with the City of Edina and Braemar Golf Course and the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute. This event is a great fit for our partners who are united by a shared vision: ensuring that golf is accessible, inclusive, and rewarding for every individual in Minnesota and furthers the collective commitment to making the game truly welcoming for everyone, regardless of ability. Braemar’s leadership in adaptive programming through its longstanding collaboration with Courage Kenny, alongside the resources and community spirit of Edina, make this championship more than an event—it’s a celebration of what’s possible when organizations work together to break down barriers,” said Paul Meierant, MGA president.
VertaCat, a Minnesota-based company that designs and manufactures all-terrain adaptive golf carts that help courses expand accessibility and inclusion for players with mobility challenges, is another key partner in staging the inagural Minnesota Adaptive Open.
The championship weekend kicks off with an Adaptive Golf Clinic, 4-5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 26, at Braemar’s driving range followed by a “Beat-the-Pro” competition on the putting green with Minnesota Wild goalies Filip Gustavsson and Jesper Wallstedt.
The Adaptive Golf Competition commences the following day (Saturday and Sunday Sept. 27-28, tee times begin at 8 a.m.), featuring 36 holes of stroke play on Braemar’s championship 18-hole golf course (tees range from 4,234 to 6,418 yards, par 72). The field includes the #1 ranked seated player in the world, Max Togisala, from South Ogden, Utah. Joining Togisala will be a dozen adaptive players from Minnesota as well as 27 competitors representing 15 additional states. The tournament is open to males and females, professionals and amateurs, with intellectual, neurological, sensory or physical impairments having a WR4GD Pass and carrying an authorized World Handicap System Handicap Index®. Spectators are welcome at the Adaptive Open. Additional championship information can be found HERE.
