Scorecard Duel Settles Women’s Spring Scramble

  COTTAGE GROVE, Minn. – The Minnesota Golf Association’s Women’s Spring Scramble brought together players from clubs and golf communities across the state for a fun and competitive day of team golf at River Oaks Municipal Golf Course on May 16. 2025 champions McKaila Poppen and Amanda Sepeda of Elk River Golf Club successfully defended their title, capturing the Overall Net championship for the second consecutive year after winning a scorecard playoff, determined by back-nine scores, against Jenna Kelley of Rum River Hills GC and Sam Kienetz of MN Golf Community: Metro. Both teams carded impressive 8-under-par 63s in one of the closest finishes of the day. The event featured a strong field and several tightly contested results, showcasing the depth of women’s golf talent across Minnesota.

The tournament also featured eight gross-score flights, showcasing standout performances throughout the day. Poppen and Sepeda added another victory by winning the First Flight with a 4-under 67, while Corina Bradford and Wenmei Qi claimed the Second Flight title with an even-par 71. Additional flight winners included Val Strachan and Mary Owen (Third Flight), Renee Kinney and Brenda Phillips (Fourth Flight), Amy Lord and Melissa Brockman (Fifth Flight), Tammy Smith-Foyt and Alicia Barber (Sixth Flight), Gwen Cook and Mary Pritchett (Seventh Flight), and Kelley and Kienetz (Eighth Flight).
