UNRL and the Minnesota Golf Association Announce New Partnership

Governor Tim Walz has proclaimed Saturday, June 1, 2024, as Golf Day in Minnesota.

EDINA, Minn. (May 31, 2024) - The Minnesota Golf Association is pleased to announce a new partnership with UNRL, a premium athleisure and golf apparel company based in St. Paul, Minn., in conjunction with Golf Day Minnesota and to grow participation among youth and underrepresented populations.

“On behalf of all of us at UNRL, we are honored to celebrate the game through our partnerships with the MGA and in support of such a great event like Golf Day Minnesota,” said Michael E. Jordan, UNRL founder and CEO.

In association with UNRL and partners 2nd Swing Golf, KFAN Sports Radio, the 3M Open, The First Tee Minnesota and the Minnesota Golf Foundation, the MGA is officially kicking off the inaugural Golf Day Minnesota with a live (10 a.m.) broadcast of KFAN's Tee-to-Green Golf Show at the Island View Golf Club in Waconia, Minn. The radio program features special guests Matt Ginella, of the Fire Pit Collective, Adam Heieck, CEO Youth on Course, Monica Hilger, COO UNRL and Houston White, community leader, author and entrepreneur.

“This partnership represents a shared commitment between the MGA and UNRL to excellence and innovation in our sport,” said Jon Mays, MGA executive director and COO, adding, “With UNRL's commitment to supporting the growth of the game among youth and underrepresented populations, we are poised to create a lasting impact on the golf community, showcasing the best of what our state has to offer."

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 2nd Swing Golf will host putting clinics, putting and chipping contests and a club trade-in tent, and The First Tee Minnesota will feature inflatable targets on the driving range. All clinics and contests are open to the public.

An 18-hole golf fundraiser (for pre-registered teams only) tees off at 1 p.m., followed by live music featuring local band, 73 Paces. All proceeds from the day will benefit Youth on Course Minnesota (YOCMN), a program for kids ages 6-18 who can play a round of golf for $5 or less at more than 110 participating golf courses around the state.

In addition, for every round played in Minnesota and posted by an MGA member on June 1, the foundation and its partners will donate $5 toward YOCMN. Organizers expect to subsidize up to 100,000 rounds of golf for youth in 2024. Golf courses around the state will be conducting local events to help raise awareness of Golf Day Minnesota and encourage their golfers to “Go Play. Go Post. Support Youth on Course.”
