2017 FedExCup Champion Justin Thomas Commits to 3M Open

BLAINE, MN - Today tournament officials announced Justin Thomas has joined the field for next week's 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities.

Thomas, who is currently ranked 20th in the world, will play in the fifth-year event for the first time. He is currently 75th on the FedExCup standings with two weeks remaining for players to qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs. The top 70 players in the FedExCup standings are eligible for the FedExCup Playoffs. The three events feature a progressive cut with fields of 70, 50 and 30.

“We are excited for the fans of Minnesota to have another one of the dynamic players in the game compete in the 3M Open,” said Mike Welch, 3M Open Tournament Director. “Justin certainly brings another element to a tournament when he plays, and we are grateful he will be joining us this year.”

The Kentucky native has won 15 times on the PGA TOUR, including the 2017 and 2022 PGA Championship and THE PLAYERS Championship in 2021.

Thomas joins defending champion Tony Finau (16th) and 2022 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year Cameron Young (18th) who are ranked in the top 20 in the world scheduled to compete in the 156-player field. Players have until 4:00 p.m. Central time today to commit and can withdraw at any time.

In addition to Thomas committing to play, Caleb VanArragon, the recent winner of the MGA Amateur Championship and Minnesota State Open, is attempting to qualify into the field next Monday at Victory Links Golf Course while Thomas Lehman, son of Tom Lehman, recieved a sponsor's exemption into the field.

Multiple ticket packages are currently available for Minnesota's only PGA TOUR event.
