Johnson Sits 34th at Assistant PGA Professional Championship to Lead Minnesotans in Florida

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Helped by his round of 1-under 71 during the second round Friday, Lucas Johnson sits in a share of 34th place to lead Minnesotans in the field following two rounds at the 2025 Assistant PGA Professional Championship at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Johnson, a former North Dakota State University golfer from Moorhead, Minn., opened the championship with a 5-over 77 Thursday before a pair of late birdies during his second round Friday put him at 2-over for the championship.

Turning in 1-over during his third round Saturday, Johnson would card two birdies against four bogeys to post a 3-over 75.

He will begin Sunday’s final round 15 shots behind the leader, Sandra Changkija, who posted back-to-back rounds of 2-under 70 following her opening-round 68 to hold a one-stroke lead at 8-under 208.

Will Hedberg, a resident of Maple Plain, Minn., opened the championship with a 4-over 76 Thursday before shooting a 77 during his second round to finish one shot inside the cutline for the weekend.

A string of bogeys during his back nine Saturday, capped off with a double-bogey on his 14th hole led to a third-round 79 to put him in a share of 68th place at 16-over 232.

Matt Sandquist, of Minneapolis, Minn., bounced back from his opening-round 82 Thursday by posting a 7-over 79 during the second round to miss the cut by eight shots at 17-over 161.
