EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – Kathryn VanArragon was the only player to break par Monday, carding a 1-under 71 to claim medalist honors in stroke play qualifying for the 2026 MGA Women's Match Play Championship aT Olympic Hills Golf Club — and the No. 2 seed in a bracket topped by past champion Reese McCauley. Lightning halted play at 6:45 p.m., but not before the field for Tuesday's Round of 16 took shape.
McCauley, of MN Golf Community: Metro, was exempt into the championship as a the 2025 titleholder and awarded the No. 1 seed. That left VanArragon, of StoneRidge Golf Club, as the top seed among the qualifiers after posting the low number of the day.
Behind her, the seeding tracked Monday's scoreboard. Emma Davies of Olympic Hills Golf Club and Keller Golf Club's Olivia Salonek each turned in even-par 72 to earn the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds, the only other players to reach even par or better. Alyssa Raghuveer (The Club at Golden Valley) claimed the No. 5 seed with a 2-over 74.
A cluster at 4-over 76 sorted into the next three spots — Ruby Reding of Hazeltine National at No. 6, Sophie Cook of MN Golf Community: West at No. 7 and Emma Welch of MN Golf Community: Metro at No. 8. StoneRidge again showed its depth: behind VanArragon, Genevieve Birkeland (No. 10) and Amelia Morton (No. 11) made the draw, with Bella Leonhart of YOC Minnesota slotting in at No. 9 — all three at 5-over 77.
Hannah Boraas (Alexandria, No. 12), Abby Stendahl (Rush Creek, No. 13), Caylin Cantwell (TPC Twin Cities, No. 14) and Kieley Hanson (YOC Minnesota, No. 15) rounded out the bulk of the seeds. The bracket's final piece came down to a playoff among three players tied at 8-over 80 — Taylor Ledwein (New Prague), Nicole Reineke (StoneRidge) and Lucy Oberdorfer (USGA/Minnesota GC) — for the 15th and final qualifying spot. Ledwein survived it to claim the No. 16 seed and a Round-of-16 meeting with top-seeded McCauley.
Round of 16 play begins Tuesday morning. The marquee openers send No. 2 VanArragon against No. 15 Hanson, No. 3 Davies against No. 14 Cantwell and No. 4 Salonek against No. 13 Stendahl, while No. 7 Cook draws StoneRidge's Birkeland and No. 6 Reding meets StoneRidge's Morton.
