Brainerd Claims Class AAA Boys Team Title as Elk River's Roiland Takes Individual Honors

  COON RAPIDS, Minn. – Making their first appearance at the Minnesota State High School League Class AAA Championship this week at Bunker Hills Golf Club, the Brainerd High School boys golf team managed a four-stroke lead following the opening round Tuesday.

Bettering its score by four shots during Wednesday’s final round, the Warriors posted a 36-hole tally of 2-under 574 to win the first team title in school history, 12 shots ahead of runner-up Benilde-St. Margaret’s.

The Warriors got a boost from sophomore Brady Oseland, who carded a final-round 71, to finish in third place at 3-under 141, while teammate and fellow sophomore Aydan Dobis finished in fourth place, one stroke behind at 142.

Closing out his prep career this week, senior Drew Haakonson bested his opening-round score by four strokes Wednesday to finish tied for 11th at even par 144.

Also finishing his prep career Wednesday, senior Jack Hagberg followed his first-round 73 with a 2-over 74 during his final high school round to finish tied for 20th.

Elk River High School junior William Roiland, who entered the season finale as the state’s No. 2 player in the Minnesota Golf Association high school rankings, opened with a 5-under 67 Tuesday and followed it with a round of even par 72 Wednesday to edge the state’s top-ranked player, Chase Birdwell, by one stroke.

White Bear Lake sophomore Easton Fiddle posted a 1-under 143 to finish in a share of fifth with 2026 Mr. Minnesota Golf finalist Dylan Kringen (Orono High School), Oliver Theel (Lakeville South), Patrick Hastings (Benilde-St. Margaret’s), Wyatt Holmes (Rosemount) and Griffin Stein (Chaska).
